The Bible is very unclear on the subject of morals anyway. That can be seen from the diversity of beliefs within Christianity. For example, you have sects who stand on street corners with placards denouncing homosexuality. You have every shade of belief about homosexuals in between before we get to Gay Christian groups who will stand on street corners with placards promoting Gay rights. Who is right? What does God think? Who does he favor? Is He a conservative or a liberal or somewhere in between? They can all make a case from Scripture, their interpretation of it. There are so many branches of Christianity...about 2,000 in America alone, I guess you just choose one which suits you..or pick and mix. Thanks for being SO clear God. I am agnostic, but I dont think the theists on this thread have done their cause one iota of good. My view: GOD HAS LEFT THE BUILDING. (If he was ever here in the first place)

Never throw away those Watchtowers and Awakes!
by free2beme init is a sin to throw away your watchtowers and awakes.
you must let them build up and up and up, until you need to store them in boxes that will be places in corners of the attic or basement.
when you find them years later, still do not throw them away or you will die at armageddon!

I clean the windows for an elderly JW couple, who still treat me as a friend and give me a cup of tea each time i go....
They have a spare bedroom and the bed is literally covered with hundreds of old Watchtowers and Awakes. That set me thinking...how many Watchtowers are printed...each issue...around 23 million...ok..there are 6 million active JWs...each one should have a personal copy...so that brings it down to around 17 million.
Then there are around another 10 million at the memorial..(many of them already JWs but inactive)...taking into account a number of families attend...lets say another 4 million get a regular order of mags...down to 13 million.
Most of the Jws have route calls with the mags...they have been going for years..you know they dont read the mags, because they still wish you merry christmas when youve been going for 10 years..and it was just a way of getting another precious hour or two in on the ministry. So if each publisher has just 1 route call...thats another 6 million placed..down to 7 million.
Now how many householders took the magazines from you just to get rid of you? You could tell couldnt you, the way they snatched them out of your hand and shut the door before you'd had chance to get into a decent discussion on the book of Ezekiel with them.
Finally, how many magazines ended up collecting dust in your house...especially those hard to place ones with front cover titles such as 'What Isaiahs prophecy means for you'. We would get around 7 of each and sometimes we would end up with half of them on the bookshelf...so my guess is there are a few million unplaced magazines every issue.
So out of 23 million Watchtowers...i reckon the actual number which are studiously read by members of the public probably amounts to a few thousand.....all that wood..or whatever they are produced from nowadays! What a waste ..but it sure looks good on their resume!

Anyone Dfd for seeing 'new light' before GB did?
by Ring Wielder ini would be interested to know if anyone knows of someone who was dfd for apostasy for not agreeing with the society, only for it to be brought out as 'new light' years later...and what, if anything, they did about it..etc?

Thanks for your comments...ran ahead of Jehovah! They ran ahead of their WT mediator..the FDS...They should have been elevated to the staus of anointed, because obviously God had revealed it to them..Otherwise it was a tactic of Satan..who knew the right explanation and chose to corrupt them by slyly letting them in on the secret before the GB...knowing they would be Dfd....how cunning.....what a load of rubbish!!

WTS: NO MORE BOUND VOLUMES AFTER THIS YEAR!
by Mary ini just found out today (from my sister) that crooklyn will not be making any more bound volumes of the watchtower or awake magazines after this year------instead, they're all going to be on audio tape only.
she does not have a computer so i generously
i think this could very well be yet another tactic of the gb trying to keep a lid on their "embarassing" quotes of yesterday.

No more bound volumes...Hmmm...Do you think there will be a directive about the Kingdom Hall libraries... I mean theres a lot of nasty stuff going back to the dark ages lying around in the libraries. They will maybe send a letter to the effect that the old stuff is taking up space in the library...or is a fire hazard or some such excuse.
No more bound volumes...well thats the rain forest saved then!

D'Fing and Love
by I-CH-TH-U-S ini once talked to a jw about disfellowshipping and was curious to how can this be showing a christly love when you all out turn your back on them.
he gave me an answer about rightousness and unrightrousness having no fellowship (which is biblical) but it didnt make sense to me.
didnt seem applicable in many ways.

If you voluntarily join any organization, be it a golf club, a political party, or a religion and you flagrantly flout ITS rules, then you would expect some discipline, even being expelled, disfellowshipped. You have to have some disciplinary procedures in place. Disfellowshipping..in my opinion, is a biblical concept.
What I totally disagree with, is the practice of shunning. Being told by the body of elders that we should shun someone, without us knowing any facts about what they have done, is barbaric. I WOULD choose personally to shun someone I know to be a paedophile, but i would be quite happy to talk to someone who was kicked out of the club because of smoking. And yet, with the JWs, these two sins are of equal severity in Gods eyes...thats crazy.
Also, with reinstatement...did the prodigal son have to sit outside his fathers house for 6-9 months before he was let back in...and look at what he had got up to while he was away!

'You will ALWAYS feel better for having gone to the meeting' ..(I said that from the platform on more than one occasion) The last year I was there..I ALWAYS felt worse..crushed with massive guilt feelings, cos I couldnt live up to their ideals.

I read it in early 2004. I remember finishing it one sunday morning when my wife and 2 children were at the kingdom hall. I was going through my own crisis...I sat and cried my eyes out.
It was like being betrayed by your best friend....I didnt want to believe it...but there it was in black and white..written in such a calm, sincere, non-vengeful manner, I had no reason to believe it was anything other than a truthful expose of the workings of the Gov. body.
I TRUSTED these people....these proud, arrogant men..who were arbitrarily messing up peoples lives with no hint of remorse afterward when they changed their ideas.
I spent 40 years in the Org, some of that time as an elder...and I sincerely tried to do everything with the right motives...What can I say...Thank you Ray Franz and all who contribute on here to helping others who are still coping with the aftermath of the Borg.
